Murang'a Senator Kembi Gitura has challenged Jubilee Party ticket winners to stop linking him and other independent candidates to the opposition.
Speaking to the press over the weekend, the Senate Deputy Speaker noted that it was unwise for the ticket winners to affiliate the independents to NASA.
He further defended his move to ditch Jubilee Party to vie as an independent candidate, accusing Jubilee's top leadership of overseeing shambolic party primaries.
“The fact that there are more than 4,500 aspirants who are vying as independent candidates shows that the nominations were botched,” he said.
“It would be therefore very unfair for my competitors to spread lies that I am now supporting NASA,” he added.
Gitura was trounced by Kiharu MP Irungu Khang'ta during the primaries.
He vowed to rally support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection bid during the forthcoming general elections.
