The National Assembly Speaker is expected to expunge a clause reducing the age of sexual consent to 16 in the proposed changes to sexual offences laws.
Leader of Majority Aden Duale has said that the impression created by the controversial Bill was not right as it appeared to be encouraging sexual immorality against young girls.
He asked the House to make to it a number of changes.
"I will therefore write to the Speaker to ensure that the section is withdrawn," Duale said on Thursday during a debate on the Bill.
If this goes through, disputed changes to the controversial Sexual Offences Act will be included at the committee stage.
This was after angry MPs faulted the changes on grounds that their proponents had mistaken social maturity with biological maturity.
They said reduction of the age was wrong since a 16-year-old was still a minor under care of the parents.
Kibra MP Ken Okoth claimed that the changes rolled back progressive gains made in taming sexual offenders.
"Girls under the age of 16 are too young to make decisions on their own as they are still under their parents' care," said Mr Okoth
