Some years ago Ken wa Maria, the fundamentals hitmaker, expressed interest in Embakasi parliamentary seat. 

He later announced through a local vernacular radio that he had dropped his bid after being offered a job in Tanzania.

Other people said he had been paid to drop his bid.

In 2014, Ken wa Maria said he would be in the 2017 Machakos senatorial race during an interview with Citizen Television. He said he is a member of Wiper Party.

But now it seems things have taken a different direction since this popular musician seems to be interested in Matuu MCA seat.

His fans have congratulated him for his political move, citing Newton Karish as an example. Karish is a musician and also MCA in Embu County Government.
