On Saturday Kenyans woke up to the tragic news that seven artistes had perished in a grisly road accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The artistes Kanene International (Weldon Cheruiyot), Mabengo, Sun star, Dj Nico En Embassy and three dancers perished ahead of a mega-concert after the Probox they were in had a head-on collision with a truck.
Following the tragedy, many leaders have come forward to send their condolences among them President Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Bomet Governor Governor Joyce Laboso among other leaders from larger Rift .
Speaking from Bomet County Weldon Cheruiyot’s mum, Josephine Ngeno, said that Kanene’s death had not only shattered the lives of their family but also broke the hearts of many Kenyans.
“Kanene ni wa Kenya mzima si wangu pekee nimelia sana mpaka saa hii,” a grief-stricken Josephine said.
She also revealed to NTV that when Kenene was around they never lacked anything.
“Amesaidia watoto wangu kwa kila kitu. Hakuna kitu tumenunua hata siku moja. Nimetumiwa pesa kutoka kila kona hakuna pesa nimetoa kutoka kwa mfuko wangu. Hata M-Pesa ni pesa ya Kanene nilikuwa natoa.
“Mimi nasikia uchungu sana. Sasa tutatoa mtu mwingine kama Kenene wapi?” she cried.
