The Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has appointed, Rebecca Miano, as Acting Managing Director and CEO making her the first female CEO.
She assumes the position following the retirement of Albert Mugo who had been CEO since 2014.
“The idea of appointing Mrs. Miano in an acting capacity is to ensure a smooth transition as we await the conclusion of the process,” says KenGen Chairman Joshua Choge as quoted by KBC.
For the last 9 years, Maino worked as the Company Secretary and Legal Affairs Director in KenGen and has been responsible for guiding and advising the Managing Director, the Board and all its committees.
Miano is a well-known and respected lawyer having earned a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honors, a Diploma in Law and Post-graduate studies in Comparative Law.
One of her first tasks will be to pick up where Mugo left off and continue to develop the company so that it meet the continuous needs of its customers.
