Several families in Kiamunyi, Nakuru County are counting losses after their houses were demolished by Kenya National Highway Authority.

KENHA said the property was on a road reserve.

The owners however said they were not given any notice and neither were the houses marked to show they were on a road reserve.

Engineer S.N Kirika, one of the landlords who have incurred losses following the demolition, said he will sue the KENHA.

“I was not given any notice and as such I will be moving to court to challenge the same,” he said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Peris Njuguna.

“It was painful to see valuable property being destroyed yet you had worked so hard to own it,” Njuguna said.

Efforts to get response from KENHA bore no fruits as corporate officer based in Nairobi did not pick calls nor answer messages.
