KeNHA said the measures entail occasional interruptions of traffic flow for purposes of enabling heavy machinery to access the work area. On Sunday, KeNHA Assistant Director - Corporate Communication Charles Njogu said the duration of the interruptions was being minimised and the process expedited as much as possible.

"Road users are requested for cooperation, patience and strict compliance with traffic control instructions," he added in a statement.

The water level at Stoney Athi Bridge between Athi River and Kyumvi (Machakos Turnoff) reduced to safe levels and repairs following heavy downpour on Thursday.

While the bridge has now been re-opened to traffic, road users were requested to exercise care and strictly follow traffic control instructions from the officers on site.

KeNHA said further disruptions may be necessary as part of the reinstatement process.
