The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has assured Kenyans that its maintenance teams are on high alert to provide the necessary accessibility support on roads that may be cut off by floods.
This comes after heavy rains pounded several parts of the country, leading to loss of lives and collapse of buildings, especially in Nairobi.
At least 20 people have been confirmed dead, 69 unaccounted for and 135 rescued from the wreckage of a six-storey residential building that collapsed Friday night in Huruma's Ngei II flats due to heavy rains.
“As a result of the heavy rains being experienced in various parts of the country, KeNHA wishes to assure all Kenyans that our maintenance teams are on high alert, to provide the necessary accessibility support on any areas of our national road network that may be cut off by floods,” said KeNHA.
“Emergency situations can be reported through Emergency Number 0722 550824 or through our various social media networks.”
KeNHA urged Kenyans to exercise caution as heavy rains could wreak more havock.
