The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has alerted all motorists plying the Mai Mahiu-Suswa-Narok Road that a section of the road, 6 Kilometres from Mai Mahiu has developed a fault line stretching 700 metres, thus completely cutting the road off.
All motorists plying Bomet, Kisii and its environs are advised to use the Nakuru- Kericho – Kaplong Road, while those heading to Nairobi from Narok should use Narok – Nakuru – Nairobi Road.
The Authority said it had dispatched a team of engineers to the ground to assess the situation and come up with temporary measures to restore the traffic on Wednesday.
"Restoration works have commenced, and we expect the road to be opened within the next 48 hours," KeNHA said in a communication, adding that it would continuously update the public on the status of the restoration works.
"We highly regret for the inconvenience caused to motorists and passengers."
