Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Peter Kenneth has called on city residents to reject the candidature of flamboyant Senator Mike Sonko during the forthcoming general elections.

Sonko is gunning for Nairobi's top seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Classic 105, Kenneth noted that Sonko had grossly failed in discharging his duties as Senator, and was therefore unfit to lead the County to prosperity.

"Sonko's role was to keep the Governor in check and he has failed terribly. I wonder why he is lying to us that he can make a good governor," he said.

He instead called on the residents to support his bid, pledging to improve the county's infrastructural development.

"It is time to empower people to create employment instead of frustrating them," he said.

Kenneth will be angling to unseat the incumbent governor Evans Kidero as an independent candidate.
