Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Peter Kenneth has taken a swipe on Senator Mike Sonko's choice of running mate as the two seek to unseat governor Evans Kidero during the forthcoming general elections.

Sonko has settled on Vivo Energy Managing Director Polycarp Igathe.

But speaking on Monday during an interview with NTV, Kenneth claimed that Sonko had settled on Igathe to breath fresh air to the flamboyant senator's candidature.

He further claimed that Sonko wants to hide behind the corporate veil of Igathe.

"He (Sonko) is trying to cover up through the choice of his running mate so that nobody looks at it in any other way," he stated.

Reports indicate that State House operatives played an integral part in identifying Sonko's deputy.

Igathe is expected to appeal to the corporate world and the middle class as Sonko is largely viewed as uncultivated.

The ticket has since been endorsed by Deputy President William Ruto, who exuded confidence that the duo will unseat governor Evans Kidero during the August polls.
