Jubilee Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth has now rejected the party's nominations whose early results show his fierce rival Senator Mike Sonko taking the early lead.
In a press statement sent to newsroom, Kenneth listed reasons for his mistrust with the process and called for its nullification.
“I disassociate myself from the sham election the Jubilee Party purported to have for Nairobi County and demand that the same elections be nullified, and that any fresh elections must rely on a genuine list of party members,” he said.
He blamed the party for a 'mixed communication' on use of identity cards before changing it to using of party register only.
This, he said, was missing in some polling stations.
“When the register was introduced halfway through the voting, many voters who were registered party members had their names missing in areas where they registers were available and were therefore denied the opportunity to vote,” said Kenneth.
Meanwhile at the Nyayo Stadium tallying centre, Sonko is leading with Lang’ata constituency reporting at 7am.
He garnered 7,727 against Kenneth’s 2,431.
In the senatorial race, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja is ahead in the constituency vote after garnering 7,813 against Kavemba Mutinda who has 915 votes.
Officials are still awaiting results from the 16 other constituencies.
