Munyua says that Kenneth has a right to contest for any seat of his choice.

The Juja MP claims that the move by a section of politicians to opposed Kenneth’s bid for the Nairobi top seat is undemocratic.

“Kenneth has a right to contest for any seat of his choice whether in Nairobi or elsewhere and he should not be condemned,” said Munyua on Tuesday during a rally in Juja town.

The Juja lawmaker observed that voters are the ones who will decide on who they want to be their leaders.

He said that Jubilee Party will unite if members stop political sideshows.

“We are all in Jubilee and we must sit down and negotiate instead of criticising and demonising some of our colleagues who have declared interest for certain seats,” added the MP.

Kenneth bid for Nairobi governor seat on JP ticket has elicited sharp divisions in the President Uhuru Kenyatta led party.

A section of politicians in the party is in support of Kenneth while others are against his bid to unseat incumbent Evans Kidero.

A group of Jubilee politicians led by Nairobi senator Mike Sonko are opposed to Kenneth bid claiming that he is a stranger to city politics while another group led by Nairobi Women Representative Rachel Shebesh and Starehe MP Maina Kamanda is in support of the former Gatanga MP bid to run against Kidero in the August 8 polls.

Kenneth who was a presidential candidate in the 2013 general elections dissolved his party Kenya National Congress (KNC) last year in support of Jubilee Party.

The 2013 presidential aspirant said that he will rally behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in August.

Last week Deputy President William Ruto met a section of Nairobi JP officials asking them to work together and settle on the right candidates who will clinch all the seats in the county.

The wrangles being experienced in JP over Nairobi county seats threatens the unity of JP with speculations that Nairobi senator Mike Sonko and nominated MP Johnson Sakaja could be on their way out of Uhuru’s party.
