Kenya Airways has been awarded this year’s African Airlines Association (AFRAA) Outstanding Service Award for its service delivery, innovation and competitiveness in the African aviation industry.

The airline was awarded at the recently concluded 48th AFRAA Annual General Assembly (AGM) held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

During the meeting, Kenya Airways' outgoing Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mbuvi Ngunze was re-elected AFRAA’s Chairman for a second year.

“This is a great recognition for the airline. Africa remains our mainstay and for us it is not just about offering seamless connectivity but also enabling growth and development in Africa’s aviation industry. This will in turn enable African carriers have a conducive operating environment while enhancing connectivity,” said Mbuvi.

He noted that improved connectivity within the continent leads to increased economic and social development, promoting trade, tourism and exchange of cultural and social ideas. AFRAA has 35 member airlines.

The award recognized Kenya Airways for proactively engaging in AFRAA projects and task forces including chairing the Fuel Purchase Project, Finance Oversight Committee, Land Development Task Force and holding the Vice Chairman role of the Route Network Coordination Project and Ground Handling Project.
