The national government in conjunction with the Chinese government will construct Spatial Economic Zone in Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, said all is set and the project will commence soon.

"My government with that China has set aside Sh20 billion for the project," he said in Eldoret town, Saturday.

"Once the project is completed 5,000 youth will get employed either directly or indirectly," he added.

He also said that his administration had set aside funds to revive and modernise the Rift Valley Textile (Rivatex) East African Limited.

"Sh3 billion from the Indian government has been allocated for the process that is underway.The funds will be used to purchase modern machines  that will increase production and compete with other textile companies globally," said president Kenyatta.

"More than 600 people have been employed and an additional 1800 will be employed next year once the process of modernization is completed," he noted.

The machines at the factory were acquired over 40 years ago.
