With the current political tension in the country, Kenya could be in for another coalition government if the current row between Jubilee and Cord over IEBC is not swiftly resolved.

The hard and rigid positions held by the warring parties is slowly drifting the country apart, and political analysts argue that the standoff could provide an avenue for rejection of poll results.

The opposition has even threatened to boycott the forthcoming elections, not out of their good will to concede defeat but out of lack of confidence in IEBC which is the electoral body mandated to oversee the voting process.

On the other hand, Jubilee government is firm in their stand that the electoral reforms in the poll agency needs to be done by the Parliament which the opposition has already objected. With these hard lines, nothing good will ever come out.

Going back to the events that led to coalition talks between Raila and the former president Kibaki in the past government, rejection of poll results was the first step before the country rocked into violence. What the opposition is simply proposing in their threats to boycott the elections is that they will eventually reject the poll results.

If the IEBC, Cord and Jubilee parties maintain their current positions as indicated by their unwillingness to relent, then nothing will stop Kenya from having a power sharing deal if the country is to be peaceful.
