Football Kenya Federation wishes to inform all Football Stakeholders and the general public that world football governing body FIFA has opened disciplinary action against the federation for taking part in the 2015 CECAFA tournament that was not sanctioned by both CAF and FIFA.

In a letter to the federation, FIFA has termed the move, which occurred under the watch of immediate former FKF President Mr. Sam Nyamweya, a violation of key FIFA’s statutes.

Further, in the letter, the world football governing body has disclosed that its Disciplinary Committee that is scheduled to meet on March 15, 2017 will analyze the matter with regard to a possible violation of regulations and decide on a possible imposition of sanctions against the Kenyan FA.

In light of the aforementioned, Football Kenya Federation wishes to reiterate its commitment and goodwill to abide by all FIFA and CAF regulations in regard to planning and taking part in both local and/0r  international tournaments and/or matches.

To this end, this administration since assuming office in February 2016 has always sought for clearance from both CAF and FIFA before any international undertaking and continues to do so in line with not only football best practices, but also in accordance with FIFA and CAF regulations.

In conclusion the federation wishes to state that it remains committed to working closely with both FIFA and CAF and commits to being cooperative throughout the disciplinary case, this even as it strives to restore sanity to Kenyan football.
