Mombasa has been experiencing rains since the month started, even as the Kenya Meteorological Department warned on Monday that the country would continue experiencing heavy rains starting Monday, March 12 to Friday 16.

The weatherman advised Kenyans who were likely to be affected by flash floods to move to safer grounds.

On Tuesday, KFS asked pedestrians to beware of slippery surfaces as they cross to/from the mainland/island.

"Due to the ongoing rain, pedestrians beware of slippery surfaces, especially at the water line, on the prows, stairs, on the deck and on the ramps," KFS said in a safety alert.

"Motorists ensure your vehicle engine is in perfect working conditions," added the service.
