Kenya will be withdrawing her military forces from the neighbouring South Sudan with immediate effect.
The order to withdraw the Kenyan troops deployed in the troubled nation comes following the sacking of Lieutenant General Johnson Mogoa Kimani Ondieki.
He was dismissed as head of the peacekeeping force in South Sudan by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon after serving for six months.
Moon had earlier shown displeasure at how the forces handled the violence in South Sudanese capital Juba.
In an official statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they had rejected the decision by the UN and would disengage from the country’s peace process.
"Instead of addressing these shortcomings directly, the United Nations has instead opted to unfairly attribute them to a single individual, in the name of the Lt. General Ondieki," the ministry said.
The ministry said the dismissal was suspect and that it "does not offer a sustainable solution to the recurring violence in South Sudan".
"It is apparent to the government of Kenya that the continued deployment of its troops in South Sudan is no longer tenable and is inimical to their safety and well-being," the statement reads.
