Opposition chief Raila Odinga has reiterated NASA will continue to seek justice following what he termed August 8’s bungled general election.
Raila said the election was grossly mismanaged and the opposition will not accept its outcome.NASA is currently challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election at the Supreme Court.“Kenyans are still trying to understand what happened in the Supreme Court of 2013 when a decision about their votes was made in minutes and a paragraph,” he said as he spoke during Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday at Mama Ngina Grounds.“Our decision to go to court was informed by our quest to let Kenyans know the truth. Whichever way the court rules the petition will in itself not cure electoral impunity. It will not bring justice to those who plotted and executed the theft of votes. The only thing that has worked against political injustice is the people’s power,” said Raila.Raila used the occasion to launch a national campaign for truth and justice in Kenya which he said will “affirm our commitment to freedom”.“We will not accept inferior governance. We will resist and disobey illegitimate computer generated leaders and we will not relent until the voice of the people as expressed through the ballot are heard and respected,” he added. The event was also addressed by NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi who expressed confidence NASA will win the Supreme Court case.Others at the event included Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi and MPs-elect Mishi Mboko (Likoni), Abdulswamad Nasir (Taita) and Aisha Jumwa (Malindi Town) among others.
