Catholic Bishop Alfred Rotich. [Photo|Capital FM]The mandate to unite Kenyans after a lengthy electioneering period that left the country almost divided by half is now on President Uhuru Kenyatta.Bishop Alfred Rotich has said that it is up to the president to use all the resources at his disposal to reach out to the opposition. He, however, notes that the path to true reconciliation for Kenya following the election is first to find out what is 'blocking our relationships in order to heal'."You have found that every time there are elections people have an agenda of saying we need to reconcile the country. That is why we want our bothers from both Jubilee and Nasa to engage us on what we can do to heal from the inside, to heed to higher calling for true reconciliation," Rotich told NTV Today on Thursday. He added that the faith we have in God as a nation is the answer to true reconciliation."God has the answers. Yes, there are heated issues but rising against your brother is not the answer. We must shun all things that make us more divided than united. Violence, tribalism, economic exclusion just makes us more divided," he said.Nevertheless, Rotich noted that Kenyans must learn to elect people of integrity saying 'you and I have a chance to stand firm and say a certain person has no integrity to lead us and cannot help our nation reconcile'.The mandate to achieve true reconciliation, he said, is on each and every Kenyan.
