President Uhuru Kenyatta has pledged more voluntary contributions to the United Nation Environment and urged other member states to do the same.

Uhuru was speaking at the third session of the UN Environment Assembly Tuesday morning, President Kenyatta once again called for the consolidation of its functions at its Nairobi Headquarters.

The president also commended the plastic carrier bags ban by NEMA.

The theme of this session of the Assembly is pollution with plastics being identified by the Assembly President Edgar E. Gutiérrez-Espeleta as a major threat to the oceans.
