Kenya has become the first country to introduce new Tuberculosis medication specifically meant for infants.
Unlike the previous medication, babies will now be administered with medication flavoured with fruits for easier intake.
According to the health ministry, the new medication will be administered according to the infant's weight unlike before when age was considered.
The medicine is made by a combination of three drugs (Pyrazinamide, rifampicine and isoniazid) which are the best against drug sensitive T.B.
Health CS Cleopa Mailu who was speaking on Tuesday during the launch stated that 18 other countries are set to follow suit and introduce similar medication.
Mailu also revealed that Nairobi, Kisumu and Homa Bay are the leading counties in TB infection.
The three counties recorded 81, 518 over the past year.
