Kenya has officially launched Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) policy for education.
Speaking at the Kenya Institute for Curriculum Development on Thursday, Belio Kipsang PS Basic Education officiated the event that saw a turn around for the education sector.
"... this will be by improving the quality of education at all levels and engaging public awareness of the Sustainable Development agenda," a press release sent to the news room read.
The policy that was initiated by UNESCO will enable students across the country to receive an in depth training on constructively and creatively addressing the present and future global challenges.
According to UNESCO which is the global lead agency for ESD, quality education will greatly impact people's thinking patterns and actions.
Therefore, students are required to learn sustainable development at all levels so as to provide them with the proper skills for survival and impacting change.
According to Dr Belio Kipsang, the new policy will enable the implementation of ESD across the education sector to enhance the attainment of the Sustainable Development goals.
