Kenya has once again delayed the naming of members to the East Africa Legislative Assembly, after the opposition provided a controversial list of nominees.

The inclusion of Kennedy Musyoka, Kalonzo Musyoka’s son, has caused an uproar, with Jubilee MPs accusing the opposition of practicing nepotism.

This means Kenya will have to wait longer before it has representation in the EALA as the national assembly submitted yet again by the opposition.

The delay caused by Cord which for the second time presented four nominees, defying a directive to provide more names from which representatives will be picked.

The Cord presented Ronald Kiprotich, Zain Abubakar, Judith Pareno, ODM’s elections chair and Kennedy Musyoka.

The names of Kennedy and Pareno have in particular caused a stir, with the Jubilee side claiming that amounts to nepotism.

Some members of ODM as well are seeking to punish Pareno, for allegedly bungling the party’s nomination.

EALA however will continue with its sessions without Kenyan representation, after members from the East African Countries were sworn in on Monday.

Kenya’s voice will not be heard until it submits the names of nine members; five from the rulling Jubilee Party, and four from the opposition.

In what is turning out to be a political and ego contest, the submission of the full names by the opposition to the assembly takes the country to square one.
