The Kenya National U17 football team on Saturday defeated hosts Burundi 4-0 in a group A match of this year’s edition of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) U17 Championships.
A second-half brace by St Anthony Boys High School striker Isaiah Abwal assured Kenya of victory after Christopher Raila and Nicholas Omondi had scored a goal each in the first half.
Kenya will next face Ethiopia on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, before rounding up Group A action against Somalia on Friday, April 20, 2018.
Group B comprises of Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan and Zanzibar.
The top two teams from each of the two groups will gain qualification to the semifinals, set to be played on April 25, with the final set to be played on April 29, 2018.The Kenyan team is being led by head coach Michael Amenga.
He is being assisted by Kibera Black Stars head coach Godfrey Oduor and former Gor Mahia goalkeeper Jerim Onyango.
