The Kenyan Police Force is unprofessional. Each time they are confronted with a situation that needs wisdom, they blunder from the top leadership to the men and women who rage havoc on streets and in institutions. I fail to understand what is wrong with our uniformed unit. Is it the training, semi illiteracy or their leadership?

There are things that do not make sense like a sane father teargasing a primary school pupil over a land conflict. What makes a mother think that her young son deserves the deadly smoke and harassment to pave way for achievement of egocentric goals by the greedy haves in society? Lang’ata primary demos are a sample of the ills glorified by the police leadership.

When did an ECD become a target of sober armed men and women? Was there an Al-Shabaab militia who had threatened the sovereignty of our beautiful motherland to warrant such silly acts in Kisumu? When is it allowed to use innocent children as collateral damage? Deal with protesters impartially whether they are supporting Uhuru or Raila because they are all Kenyans with a mortal destiny similar to the peasants that are molested by the police.
The harassment in Mumias and the alleged death of an infant in Kisumu due to injuries inflicted by a police officer should only happen in a State manned by insanity but not a celebrated constitution like ours.

If they are not killing innocent Kenyans, they are collecting bribes on our roads. They do not care about the alarming road fatalities. What amazes me is the sluggish response when called by a common citizen like me. However, they are ready to go in thousands to man one Kenyan! Why do you harass Kenyans and accuse them of loitering if they fail to give you the few cursed coins that have made your lives miserable?
As Universities close due to police mistakes, Kenya loses its technical mass. Tomorrow we will be going to China to finish manual laborers. Do people demonstrate inside hostels and classrooms?

I know the Inspector General of Police Mr. Joseph Kipchirchir Boinnet has answers to this madness but it is high time we streamlined the police force. They are our mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters but the beasts in them is not what we need to deal with crime. They should not be killer squads and instruments of maintaining illegitimate power but a service unit. What do they mean by Utumishi Kwa Wote? Serve everyone regardless of his tribe, political affiliation or economic abilities.
