On Tuesday, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the region where he launched a security crackdown on criminals.“The government will deploy additional security officers and intensify patrols and ensure prompt response to attacks. We are going to hunt them down and ensure they face the law,” Dr Matiang’i said during a community meeting at Kipsigon in Cheptais Sub-County.The no-nonsense CS added, “We are telling the criminals that you can run but you can’t hide, we will get you. We have your identity and it is only a matter of time before we arrest you.”Those on the wanted list are accused of having killed, maimed and scared people living in the region which has enjoyed calm since former President Mwai Kibaki ordered an operation to rid the area of the Sabaot Land Defence Force (SLDF) militia group.
