Ken Tarus will be the new managing director and CEO for Kenya Power according to the Kenya Power Board.

Currently, Tarus has been the acting CEO since January 4, and will be assuming the position after taking over from Ben Chumo.

According to Chairman Kenneth Marende, Tarus has the leadership qualities that will help develop KPL’s ability to distribute their services.

Following the appointment, Tarus has been trusted with executing the government’s 2020 plan to ensure national access to electricity.

Marende has exuded his confidence in the new CEO and is sure he is fit for the job.

"Dr Tarus will play a key role in entrenching the company as a leader in the electricity sub-sector by aggressively pursuing its business growth and diversification strategy," Marende said as reported by The Star.

Tarus holds a Doctorates degree in Finance from Kabarak University, and both a Bachelor’s degree and MBA in Commerce from Nairobi University.
