Oduor said the vice is the main reason why most of the estates in the county have been experiencing major power blackouts.

“Cases of transformers being vandalised have increased. It has become a major problem to us because we have to keep on replacing them,” she said.

Speaking to journalists at her office in Nakuru town on Monday, Oduor said that currently, Kenya Power is experiencing huge losses as they have to keep importing new power transformers to replace the vandalised ones.

She said that it will take some time to replace all the transformers since they do not have any left in their store.

“The affected customers will have to bear with the situation. We have to place an order through the government to be able to acquire them,” she said.

Oduor said that some of the most notorious areas in transformer vandalism are Njoro, Mbaruk and Kiamunyi.

She revealed that the power provider is coming up with more ways to help curb the vice. Among the measures is relocating the transformers from isolated areas to more secure grounds.

Oduor also warned the public against siphoning fuel from the transformers.
