A 72-year-old grandmother was yesterday evening electrocuted while hanging clothes at her home in Nyaguta village in Kisii county.
Residents who witnessed said Martha Nyaboke had recently completed the last installments for power connection.
Area assistant chief John Omboga said that Nyaboke's house had been connected with power and it seems that the cables were not properly installed.
The residents of Nyaguta village have accused the concerned contractor who was given that job to connect power in the old lady’s house.
They claimed that the contractor had left naked wires hanging outside the house which led to the death of the old lady.
The residents have since been cautioned on who should connect their houses with power since some individuals have used the opportunity as power technicians to embezzle funds from the innocent.
They have urged the Kenya Power to make sure they assign qualified personnel to hand such sensitive duty instead of using people who are not qualified in the field.
