Kenya Power has been named the most innovative firm at the African Investor's CEO Institutional Investment Summit awards.
Kenya Power was honoured for its aggressive electricity project targeting humble households.
Kenya Power's World Bank-funded Global Partnership on Output-Based Aid project connects low-end customers primarily those in the rural areas and informal settlements with electricity.
The firm has managed to increase two-fold in the number of households connected to the electricity grid as well as the connection of over 22,000 primary schools to the grid.
The company has increased sales through the initiative which tackled the issue of electricity theft, and addressed challenges such as injuries, loss of life and property caused by illegal and poor connections.
