Kibera residents have raised concerns over what they term as failure by the Kenya Power to respond to complaints regarding power outage especially due to faults on the tokens.

Makina residents are the latest victims of the problem having stayed in the dark for four days. Makina Mosque administrators are among those that have expressed dissatisfaction on how the electric supplier is handling complaints.

On Friday, one of the residents, Sheikh Abu Hamza said that the mosque has faced power breakdown for four days while other surrounding areas being affected for close to two weeks.

"We have serious concerns over the kind of services Kenya Power is offering to us as customers. We have not had electricity for at least four days and Kenya Power seems not to respond to us positively as the electricity supplier," expressed Abu Hamza.

He claimed that the power company has constantly distanced itself from the problem saying that tokens are not directly under its mandate to handle.

"When we call Kenya Power they say they are not the ones concerned with tokens but the contracted companies. This has given a leeway to some people to exploit the residents by asking for service fee of up to sh2500 in order to mend the electric fault. Why are we forced to make such payments yet there service charges we pay monthly to the company?" He asked.
