The Kenya Power Company has withdrawn a case it had filed against the Mombasa County government.
The company had accused the county government of arresting its staff who were cutting down trees along power lines.
In its defense, Kenya Power said it was carrying out a maintenance programme of power lines within the county.
The application filed by the company stated that the exercise of cutting down trees was in a bid to ensure reliability of electric power supply, as well as reduce cases of power outages that are sometimes experienced in the coastal region.
Kenya Power claimed that the actions by the county staff were illegal and in bad faith, as they were not sanctioned by law.
The court made a ruling on May 31 restricting the county government from arresting the utility firm’s staff.
