Under the new timings to be released by Kenya Railways in the next four days, passengers travelling to Mombasa on the Madaraka Express train from Nairobi will now set off at 7:30am from the CBD and arrive at Syokimau terminus at 8:10 am.Previously, passengers would leave the Nairobi terminus via the link train at 8:00am to arrive at Syokimau station at 8:40am, just 20 minutes before the departure of Madaraka Express train.“Morning timings have not been favouring Standard Gauge Rail (SGR) commuters. We are therefore working backwards with the timings to give Madaraka Express passengers additional time to go through the normal procedure upon arrival or before boarding,” said Kenya Railways corporate affairs manager Mary Oyuke. The new adjustment in timing will see the Syokimau train depart Syokimau train station for Nairobi terminus at 6:30am instead of 6:55am.It is the same train that carries passengers from Nairobi Station to Syokimau terminus in the morning to board Madaraka Express train to Mombasa.Since its launch in May, Madaraka Express trains have been departing daily from both directions, offering a four-and-a-half hour non-stop connection between Nairobi and Mombasa.
