The Kenya Red Cross secretary general Abbas gullet has won the North-South Prize of the Council of Europe for dedicating his life to promote humanitarian work and foster human solidarity. He received the award in Portugal on May 7.

Abbas Gullet is a humanitarian worker who has been on the forefront in disaster management in the country, Serving as KRCS Secretary General, he has helped mitigate disaster in the country from terrorism to natural calamities like floods and drought. He came on the spotlight during West Gate terror attack in Westland’s Nairobi when gunmen opened fire killing at least 68 and wounding 175.
Recently Mr Gullet made an appeal for $5 million o help those affected in 32 counties across the country.
