Speaking to Journalists and other stakeholders at a Kisumu hotel on Thursday night, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), Public Relations & Communications Manager, Wausi Walya challenged the media to demonstrate patriotism by avoiding issues that portray Kenya negatively.

Walya on behalf of KTB Managing Director, Muriithi Ndegwa disclosed that KTB hosts over 170 travel trade representatives (hosted buyers) in the 4th Edition of the Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE).

She said the hosted buyers from over 36 countries started arriving in Kenya from October 1, 2014 in readiness for the 4th Edition of the Expo scheduled for October 8th to October 10th 2014 and envisaged to boost our Tourism sector.

“The MKTE was initiated for profiling various Tourism destinations across the country and place it on the global map. It borrows from other widely publicized exhibitions that KTB has bench-marked on and has attended over the years”, Walya stated.

Walya also stated that new entrants to the exhibition include Djibouti, Sudan and Indonesia, adding “there will also be a high team of experts providing seminar talks on tourism topical issues. Their presence is a great endorsement for Kenya”.

“These speakers are considered authorities in their field of expertise as well as opinion leaders. The presentations will be followed by panel discussions from the Kenya travel trade. The official opening of the EXPO will be on 8th October 2014”, he revealed.

Among top invited guests were senior officials of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
