Tournament organizers have announced that Morocco has replaced Kenya as the host for the 2018 African Nation Championship.
According to reports, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided to give Morocco the tournament ahead of fellow bidders Equatorial Guinea.
This comes weeks after Kenya lost the rights to host the after Caf determined they were not prepared to host the tournament.
Kenya preparation were seen as unsuitable as they would have had to host the 16 team tournament which was to run from 12 January to 4 February 2018.
Since Morocco is indeed the host nation and have automatic qualification to the tournament, the spot they had freed was given to Egypt.
The tournament will feature strictly locally-based players.
The last time Morocco hosted a senior continental tournament was in 1988.
This comes as a huge blow to Kenya after several months of promises, preparations and renovations.
