AHWP constitutes of over 30 member economies, who are made of regulators, Industry Experts, who meet annually to discuss policy, regulatory matters and sharing of scientific information and international best practices.The Pharmacy and Poisons Board has actively participated in the AHWP meeting, and in a move towards regulatory convergence will be endorsed as a member economy to the AHWP.The Board said Regulatory Convergence is one way to accelerate access to medical products, as sharing or international best practices can result in the removal of duplication of technical documentations across jurisdiction. The discussion around Harmonisation of regulatory processes for Medical Devices including In-Vitro Diagnostics has now, more than ever gained momentum.Regulatory framework strengthening is one way to accelerate access of health products that meet the safety, performance and standards. "Kenya will benefit from shared technical expertise, sharing of international best practices as well as collaboration with other regulatory authorities," the Board said on Wednesday.The Board is represented by Dr Dominic Kariuki and Dr Paulyne Wairimu.
