The Confederation of African Football (CAF) organizers of the 2018 African Nations Championship, known as the Total African Nations Championship are not pleased with efforts made by the Kenyan team.

CHAN 2018 will be the 5th edition of the African Nations Championship, a biennial football tournament organized by the exclusively featuring players from the respective national championships. It will be hosted by Kenya, and is scheduled to take place between 11 January and 2 February 2018.

Kenya was granted hosting rights to the championship in 2014. Unfortunately, 5 months to the championship, none of the four stadiums earmarked meet the minimum requirements set by the Confederation of African Football. These are  Kipchoge Keino stadium in Eldoret county, Kinoru stadium in Meru county, Kenyatta stadium in Machakos county,  Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums in Nairobi county.

The confederation has threatened to take the hosting rights. In the event of such a move Kenya will be banned from competing for two consecutive tournaments.

The three week championship slated for the beginning of next year will take place in four counties.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) officials will be in the country in August  to make a final inspection .Based on the progress they will see a decision will be made on whether they will f=give another country the hosting rights in such a small time frame.
