The Immigration Department of Kenya has rolled out the much-awaited e-passports.

It also stated that the current passports will however continue to be in the next two years.

The new document will have the East African Community name with that of Kenya in what is aimed at showing unity in the East African region.

The series A, B, C and diplomatic passports will be acquired at a cost of Sh4,550, Sh6,050, Sh7,550 and Sh7,550.

Payments will be sent through mobile phone or credit cards.

From today, Kenyans are required to start replacing the old document with electronic ones.
