Kenya Sevens have unveiled Bidco Africa as their new co-sponsors, coming after SportPessa withdrew their sponsorship.

Bidco will sponsor the Sevens team and the Kenya Lionesses for a period of three years, with other rugby development programmes in the country as well.

The deal will see Shujaa play the Shujaa play their HSBC Sevens World Series and the whole 2017-2018 season with their jersey branded with Bidco Africa logo on the back.

According to the Group Director Chris Diaz, who spoke during the unveiling of the deal, they will support rugby development in the country, starting from the grassroots.

“We wish to support sports in Kenya and our men and women rugby sports teams are doing Kenya proud and we will continue to support the team for the next three years to develop rugby Kenya wide and encourage youngsters in schools and universities to bring out their talent in sports and position Kenya as a great sporting nation,” said Bidco Africa Group Director Chris Diaz during yesterday’s unveiling ceremony at RFUEA Grounds.

He added: “If players want to be in the best possible shape to do well in rugby, then they need to get their diets right. Effective training and recovery, coupled with healthy eating, are the key ingredients to performing to your best.”

KRU Chairman Richard Omwela lauded the deal, saying it was a major boost for the team.

“Shujaa has grown from strength to strength and is now considered the team to beat in the annual World Rugby Sevens circuit. We also appreciate the support going out to the Lionesses a part of this deal,” said Omwela as quoted by the Standard.
