Kenya’s Internet connectivity ranks below Africa's leading economies including South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt and Ghana.
The country also lags behind the East African region in a number of indicators.
This is according to a new survey.
The latest report co-authored by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation and the International Telecommunications Union says that 0.3 out of 100 residents in the country are reported to have a fixed broadband connection.
This score ties with Tanzania, Ghana and Uganda but stands lower than Ethiopia at 0.6, South Africa at 2.8 and Egypt at 5.2.
Kenya lags behind the region in terms of the mobile broadband connectivity as 26 out of every 100 are connected.
This report differs from the ranking published earlier in June this year placing the country at the top of Middle East and Africa with its average speeds of 12.2mbps.
