The Kenyan government will be given sh13.8 billion by the France government under the last mile connectivity project.
The money will be used for power connections. The deal was agreed upon after the president visited France.
The president is still on the tour in France where he is seeking to bring more money to the country. The deal indicates that sh10.4 billion will be treated as a loan while sh3.4 billion is given as a grant. The money will help the Kenya power connect electricity to households countrywide.
Kenya Power is targeting 314,200 homes under its first connection phase. The first phase connection is funded by the Kenyan government and African Development Bank.
The other money the president has been loaned is sh1.7 billion for the construction of roads in the country. The exercise will foresee many jobless youths get employed through working at construction sites of the roads.
In his presidential manifesto, the president promised to create many jobs for the unemployed youths. He had achieved his dream through the collapsed NYS project where many youths worked and got paid.
