The Government of Kenya has signed a pact with Tullow, Maersk and Africa Oil to allow exportation of local oil on pilot basis starting June this year.

Tullow has in the past projected that there are nearly a billion barrels of oil in the region south of Lokichar area.

The current estimates were made based on wells Tullow has by now drilled but expects the amount to rise in the course of the drilling.

Also on the back of what Tullow termed as substantial reduction in the exploration budget are the plans to carry on with oil production.
