Kenya will soon join the list of oil exporting countries in Africa after the government approved a commercialization plan by the ministry of Energy.
Exportation is expected to commence in June 2017, with the country expected to produce between 2,000 and 4,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
The crude will be transported by road from the Lokichar basin oil fields to Eldoret, from where it will be loaded onto trains or trucks then transported to Mombasa.
The country is expected to earn between Sh8.3 million and Sh16.6 million daily once the exportation begins next year.
The government has also approved the development of a pipeline from oilfields to Lamu where the construction of a second port is underway.
