Kenya will on Wednesday host the Second High Level Meeting (HLM2) of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) the latest in a list of high-profile conferences to be held in Nairobi over the past two years.
President Kenyatta will deliver the opening remarks at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre where 3,000 delegates from about 150 countries are expected to attend the conference.
According to State House, some of the issues to be discussed at this forum include the progress and challenges faced on the road for effective development; the ways in which effective development can deliver the Sustainable Development Goals; mechanisms that improve economic empowerment of women and youth; as well as the contributions that the private sector can make to sustainable development.
The International Conference that concludes on Dec 1, seeks to enhance positive impact of development cooperation by taking stock of the implementation of internationally agreed principles of development cooperation through ownership of development priorities by developing countries.
The Global Partnership was created in Busan, South Korea, six years ago.
