FKF Chairperson Mr. Nick Mwendwa has announced that Kenya will host the CECAFA tournament between November and December. Speaking to the press in Nairobi, Mr. Mwendwa also highlighted a raft of measures that FKF has come up with to improve football in the Country.

The chair noted that they are in the process of enacting a new constitution with a raft of changes to improve the management of the sport in the country. Key amongst the changes is the branches being broken to the county level with an extra slot for Nairobi making it a total of 48 County branches.

He noted that Article 10 of the new FKF constitution guarantees an all-inclusive process where all stakeholders will have a say in the management of the sport in the country. There are also clear attempts to make the sport all-inclusive by roping in women in the game. More women clubs will be incorporated in the league, Mwendwa noted.

The chair also noted that they propose to increase the number of delegates from 78 to 94 under Article 22 to make the sport more inclusive. Mwendwa also noted that the FKF President will henceforth have a running mate to create harmony in elections.

Term limits have also been introduced with an individual having three terms of four years each. The CECAFA tournament will see 13 member states participating.

The tournament comes on the heels of the failed hosting of CHAN.
