Food Science and Technology Platform of Kenya (FOSTeP-K) will from March 29 to April 1 hold a food safety and security conference at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (Kefri) headquarters in Muguga.

The conference was organised in conjunction with International Union of Food Science and Technologists (IUFoST).

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i will grace the event.

FOSTP-K is a Kenyan-based professional association that envisions an elaborate network of food science and allied professionals that can contribute significantly towards solving problems of food insecurity in Kenya and the world at large

The conference, whose theme is ‘Food Safety, Nutrition, Agro-processing and Innovation for Regional Development’, seeks to provide an interactive platform for information sharing, enhancing networking with industry and contributing towards improving food safety and nutrition in Africa.

Food safety and consumer awareness, agro-processing for regional development, current innovations in food industry, nutrition and HIV management, education, science and technology, knowledge sharing will be discussed at the 4-day workshop.

Other guests expected at the conference are; Ciru Miring’u, the Managing Director, Nestle East Africa; Dr Rugutt, Director General, Nacosti; Dr Willy K. Tonui CEO-National Biosafety Authority; Dr Gerry Moy, IUFOST and Brian Milton of Global Food Safety Partnership
