A total of Sh900 million has been dispensed by the government of the Republic of Kenya.
This money will mostly be used to guarantee that around 100,000 kids with special needs out of school join the institutions that will address their needs.
Speaking during the first annual Special School Heads Association of Kenya (SSHAK) conference held in Nairobi, Education Cabinet Secretary ,Fred Matiang'i said that the allotment this year in grants is to see to the increase in the quantity of kids getting to education particularly for secondary level.
In the meantime, a mapping exercise on all customary public institutions is to be completed to discover how the consistent schools can fuse the unique needs kids in a bid to build access to training by decreasing the distance to the few existing special needs schools.
During the conference that went down on Monday, the Education CS said his service will join hands with the Interior counterpart in executing the mapping exercise that will be conducted by County Education Directors and County Commissioners.
"For a nation (Kenya) endowed with immeasurable assets it is not reasonable to have our youngsters still not able to get to education yet we have the capacity needed," said Matiang'i.
Matiang'i further said that he will reveal the mapping activity to recognise the general schools which these youngsters can be accommodated noting that the nation has not been enlisting all youngsters with special needs in grade schools.
